Biography
Raphael Tirrell Harlan was born on November 23, 1991, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up with a speech impediment and ADHD. His biological mother was addicted to cocaine. At six years of age, he was fostered by a woman named Cora Lee Harlan. The woman then adopted him in February 2001 when he was nine years of age. He was a survivor when he was raped at 12. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he attended five schools in elementary, middle, and high school levels, and at 18, he graduated from Mumford High in Detroit in June 2010.
Raphael, nicknamed Ralph by his family members and some of his friends, wrote a poem that was published in an elementary school's poetry book that he attended. He also was a former editor-in-chief for Mumford's JROTC newspaper when he was in ninth and tenth grades. In October 2012, he published his first two books, The Woman of Greatness and Inspiration: A Tribute to My Mom and Unlimited No Contract Cell Phone Companies vs. Unlimited Contract Cell Phone Companies. In July 2013, he self-published Water Rate Challenge, the first e-book of his Breaking Debt mystery series.
Although Raphael enjoys reading different genres of writing, he's more of a creative, imaginary writer when it comes to different styles of writing. He enjoys the lifestyle of making smart decisions with money and talks about financial situations that people generally face when it comes to dealing with uncontrollable occurrences that affect negative financial decisions. His belief in frugality is that when it comes to lifestyles, people should think and decide smartly with their money in uncontrollable situations that are normally tough to overcome. He highly enjoys and admires cooking. Since he learned to cook at 17, he has grown to cook food in creative, imaginary, over-the-top ways that people can't find themselves doing with food. His love for cooking expands through pastas, turkey meat, wild game, and fruits and vegetables, creating dishes that translate from his mind to reality. He's also a lover and admirer of women of older generations. As a cub, as he calls himself, he enjoys friendships with older women, whether he at times finds himself hanging out with them, visiting their houses, helping them out with things, spending time with them and their adult children and grandchildren, or talking to them on the internet. Although he was born and raised in a predominantly black city, his relationships with women grew diversely towards different habits and lifestyles with his true feelings. His love for women grows not just for passion and compassion, but for enjoyment and intimacy. Those passions and lifestyle are evident in his writing of fiction and cookbook.
Currently, when he's not writing, he edits e-books written by authors from different countries in the world. He owns and operates a Zazzle store called Frugality Designs, an online graphic design store where he makes logo-type and text-type designs, put them on various products, and sell them to shoppers, experienced and new. He also attends the University of Michigan-Flint, where he's studying full-time for a bachelor's degree in visual communications, with graphic design as a concentrated. After graduation, he hopes to continue designing in his online store and expand his online business to e-book covers. He also plans to continue editing e-books professionally. He also does landscaping as a business in spring and summer in the Flint Metro area. He can be found living in the Flint Metro area and contacted on Facebook. His emails are [email protected] and [email protected], and his website is www.raphaeltharlanbooks.weebly.com.
